#LoveBoston

Love Boston Campaign- New Balance

November Project, Harvard Stadium, Bright and Early

Marathon Monday is quickly approaching and New Balance has launched its new #loveboston campaign (god, I have the best job ever).  Ever since I can remember I have attended the Boston Marathon with my family and friends-- I have always been an avid runner, and racing is my one true love.  Last year I was caught in the midst of the bombing attack less than a mile from the finish line.  I couldn't imagine how someone could turn the city I loved so dearly--the place I was always so happy-- into a nightmare. This year Boston will be coming back in full force, and I can't wait to show that we are Boston Strong.

Take me to the Sea

Ocean House, Westerly, RI

I Crave the Salty Air

Ocean House, Westerly, RI

Momma
There is something about the ocean that just calms me down.  I was lucky enough to spend all four years of my undergrad career at the University of Rhode Island--this meant I lived in Narragansett Bay, steps from the beach for peanuts (especially compared to my Boston rent).  From time to time I get home sick for the ocean.  I crave the smell of the salt air, the ocean breeze, and the sound of the boats entering the harbor.  Don't get me wrong--Boston is my home and has a very special place in my heart-- but is not comparable to the shore line.

So this weekend I was feeling a little homesick and nostalgic for  the good old college days and fresh air.  I decided to pack my bags and headed for the sea.  A few of my friends still reside in the Narragansett and the Newport area, so I planned on over staying my welcome and absorbing as much of the salty goodness as possible.

Sunday afternoon my family even decided to join me at the Ocean House in Westerly, RI for a glass of wine and endless views of the sea.  This was nostalgia at its finest--but I got my ocean fix this weekend and I am counting down the days until I return.

"Almost-Sping" an In Between Season

Sweater- Gap Necklace-Forever 21
It is the "almost spring" season--which I personally think-- is the hardest season to dress for.  Do you give up on all your warm cozy sweaters and rush into your cute flowy spring attire?  Are you willing to freeze in that surprise March snow storm (yes--its still snowing in Boston)? "Almost Spring" is increasingly difficult to dress for, and that's why I am here.  Do not give up on your sweaters! Yes, I mean you should retire anything with fur on it--come one its not that cold-- but invest in some spring sweaters.  These are mid weight fabrics that can keep you warm but are also breathable! Also wear some fun colors! Remove yourself from the winter drab of creams and neutrals and explore some brighter tones that pop and make you think happy (warm) thoughts. I have paired a neural top with a lighter weight sweater with a fun print and a coral pop necklace to tie it all together. Just remember--mid weight fabrics and color pops and you will own "Almost Spring"

Say it Ain't Snow!

Vest- Cache Denim Blouse- Gap Jean-lucky brand  Booties-Italian boutique
That's right people--Snow is yet again in the forecast for today...So even though it is March 5th, I figured I should get the most out of my furry vest before I can't wear it any more.  My vest is my favorite winter article of clothing and wear it with pretty much anything--including bodycon dresses.... I love it even more because it was so cheap! I got it for a STEAL at Cache at the end of the season a few year ago and it ended up costing me under $20 (originally $150).  So if this snow means I can get more wear out of my favorite item that's in my closet--then I say let it snow!

Snow Bunny

Mt. Washington Hotel Fire Pit--keep me cozy

Mt. Washington Hotel
It started snowing in Boston on Tuesday afternoon--and my mother and I decided to make the most of this crazy snow apocalypse and hit the slopes! I am originally from the good old state of New Hampshire (I mean "live free or die" might be the most perfect motto ever), so I grew up skiing the east...and let me just say I am a sucker for some freshies.

After a terrifying drive in the snow blizzard with my mother (if you kneww my mother you would understand how terrifying this journey was)our mini ski vacation turned into a week long bender. We ended up getting snowed in up north so I ended up cashing in some last min vacation days and hit the slopes.

How did I afford all this skiing you may ask? Easy--a close friend of ours works for resort and ended up scoring us free lift tickets for a few day--MAJOR WIN--otherwise, this would not be possible.  We even did at Apres Ski at the Mt. Washington Hotel--which I suggest everyone goes to at some point in their life.

Overall, company was perfect, food was amazing, and skiing conditions were UNREAL.  Ski the east and everything will be good.

Let It Snow?!

Boots- Sorels Vest- Aeropostale (dont judge this is from my high school days and i actually love it) Blouse- Gap Jeans-Lucky Brand

Sorels

Vest Details Screams let it snow!
Its snowing--again-- in Boston.  I have to admit, I love the city right after a fresh snowfall.  The city looks like a painting when everything is draped in a beautiful white blanket of clean fresh snow--this however doesn't last and then everything turns grey, slushy, and wet.... Staying warm and dry in the city during these times always seems to cause a bit of a problem, which is why I am here to help!

So how do you stay warm and dry you may ask? Layering. Layering is the answer to this my friends. Layers, layers and more layers... Oh, and a wicked pairr of snow boots!  I swearr by my Sorels (one time I went hiking in the snow for a whole day wearing these bad boys and my toes were nice and toasty the entire time).  You can find a chic snow boot that looks stylish with any outfit online (got mine on Gilt) or at your favorite shop (L.L Bean has some killer snow boots).

Lastly, staying bundled in layers doesn't mean you can't be stylish! Look for pieces with fun details, colors, or prints.  Find an item that scream "this is totally me!" and pair it with a neutral to complete the look!

Stay warm and dry my friends!
