It started snowing in Boston on Tuesday afternoon--and my mother and I decided to make the most of this crazy snow apocalypse and hit the slopes! I am originally from the good old state of New Hampshire (I mean "live free or die" might be the most perfect motto ever), so I grew up skiing the east...and let me just say I am a sucker for some freshies.

After a terrifying drive in the snow blizzard with my mother (if you kneww my mother you would understand how terrifying this journey was)our mini ski vacation turned into a week long bender. We ended up getting snowed in up north so I ended up cashing in some last min vacation days and hit the slopes.

How did I afford all this skiing you may ask? Easy--a close friend of ours works for resort and ended up scoring us free lift tickets for a few day--MAJOR WIN--otherwise, this would not be possible.  We even did at Apres Ski at the Mt. Washington Hotel--which I suggest everyone goes to at some point in their life.

Overall, company was perfect, food was amazing, and skiing conditions were UNREAL.  Ski the east and everything will be good.

Let It Snow?!

Vest Details Screams let it snow!
Its snowing--again-- in Boston.  I have to admit, I love the city right after a fresh snowfall.  The city looks like a painting when everything is draped in a beautiful white blanket of clean fresh snow--this however doesn't last and then everything turns grey, slushy, and wet.... Staying warm and dry in the city during these times always seems to cause a bit of a problem, which is why I am here to help!

So how do you stay warm and dry you may ask? Layering. Layering is the answer to this my friends. Layers, layers and more layers... Oh, and a wicked pairr of snow boots!  I swearr by my Sorels (one time I went hiking in the snow for a whole day wearing these bad boys and my toes were nice and toasty the entire time).  You can find a chic snow boot that looks stylish with any outfit online (got mine on Gilt) or at your favorite shop (L.L Bean has some killer snow boots).

Lastly, staying bundled in layers doesn't mean you can't be stylish! Look for pieces with fun details, colors, or prints.  Find an item that scream "this is totally me!" and pair it with a neutral to complete the look!

Stay warm and dry my friends!

Here in Boston, Sports are a way of life and we are pretty damn good at them.  I have to admit, I am a pretty big Boston sports fan--Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics are kinda my thing and I get excited when I see people repping my team; but lets be honest here.... it can be very difficult to look like you are fashion conscious and a sports fan.

The bruins played their last game this Saturday (before everyone ships off to Sochi for the winter Olympics) and I decided this was the perfect opportunity to enjoy some adult beverages near the Gahhhden for the afternoon.  Of course I wanted to look fantastic, but I also needed to wear my Bruins gear.  I have the PERFECT pair of "gold" pants that are the EXACT shade of Bruins gold (thank you color theory class), and I paired that with a nice gingham/denim button down, a slouchy knit hat and of course--red lip.  These statement pieces and pop of color added the exact mix of Bostonfandom, and fashionista that I needed-- I even got called called by the homeless man in front of 7-11, so if that doesn't mean something I don't know what does! So bring on the fan Tee shirts and the accessories--who said athletic wear was boring?

I have to admit--I spend A LOT of time changing outfits in the morning;  there are at least five outfit changes in my short period of allotted time to actually look like a decent human. This is what I (eventually) settled on.  Its easy, warm, and pretty damn cute--perfect for the chilly Boston weather. Basics my darling--its all about pairing basics and throwing in a statement piece to catch the eye.  I hope you enjoy!

Beginnings

being a total nerd on a duck tour
Welcome to my new life.  I am your average 20 something year old who is learning how to actually be an adult in the legendary city of Boston. I landed an exciting job in the sportwear industry that actually relates to what I majored in, then I moved out of my parents home, and finally split with my boyfriend of 4 years (woof)--Needless to say, I am open for lots of adventures and mistakes.  This blog will share my love for fashion, food, and adventure while (attempting) to stay on a budget... I have to admit--I have no self control when it comes to money and tend to make spur of the moment descisions, but I think thats what makes life more fun!  Get ready for some inspiration people, I hope you enjoy!
